Upcoming Outings

July 17—Laurance Lake, Day Trip Mt. Hood

Laurance Lake is about 104 acres and is generally windy in the afternoon.  It normally has a good population of rainbows, and a few cutthrouts. Float tubes and other non powered crafts are allowed on the lake.  Drive from Hood River to Parkdale and take the Clear Creek Road (from the center of town head south) to the Lawrence Lake Road.  There are two boat ramps and a campground located at the lake.  Parking permits ($5 ?) for a day are required at the boat ramp.  Warning: some of us were once escorted from the lake by the sheriff because we did not have pfd's and whistles while in our tubes.  For more information call Andy at 971 - 409 - 6149

Gold Lake—August 19 - 21

It's time for a trip to Gold Lake and see if the TVTU fishing regulation sign is still in place.  TVTU installed the sign many years ago to try and dissuade people from illegally removing rainbow trout from the lake.  You can take all the brook trout if you want but removing rainbow trout is prohibited.  Gold Lake is fly fishing only and motor boats are not allowed.  The lake is about 1/2 mile long and covers about 100 acres.  To get to Gold Lake, take Highway 58, 23 miles east of Oakridge and past the Waldo Lake turnoff.  Just past the Salt Creek Falls Campground sign you will find the turnoff to Gold Lake on the left.  For more information, call Andy at 971 - 409 - 6149.  There is no planned bbq on this trip.  You'll have to feed yourself.
