Welcome to The Trout Line Newsletter! This is our Tualatin Valley Trout Unlimited Chapter newsletter that will be coming out twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month.
Fly of the Month - Denny's Callibaetis Nymph

Hook: Tiemco 5263, size 12-16
Thread: Olive 8/0
Tail: Lemon Wood Duck
Body: Hare's Ear Dubbing
Rib: Fine copper wire
Hackle: Fine Natural Grizzly
Wingcase: Lemon Wood Duck
1. Tie in a tail of lemon wood duck fibers, a little shorter than the body.
2. For the wingcase, tie in another bunch of fibers, tips first, at the tie-in point of the tail and let them extend off the back of the fly out of the way.
3. Tie in a piece of copper wire at the tie-in point of the tail and let it extend off the back of the fly.
4. Tie in, tip first, a small grizzle hackle (sized so the splines are about half the width of the hook gap) at the tie-in point of the tail and let it extend off the back of the fly.
5. Make a dubbing loop at the tie-in point of the tail and make a yarn of hare's ear dubbing, winding the yarn to just behind the eye.
6. Wind the grizzly hackle forward in wide turns (three or four turns) to the front of the body and tie off and trim.
7. Pull the wingcase wood duck fibers forward on top of the body and tie off at the front of the body.
8. Wind the ribbing wire with seven or eight turns forward over the body and wingcase to the front of the body, tie off and trim.
9. Make a head of thread and secure with a small drop of head cement.
