THE TROUT LINE

June 1, 2020

Welcome to The Trout Line Newsletter! This is our Tualatin Valley Trout Unlimited Chapter newsletter that will be coming out twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month.

President's Corner

We are moving towards becoming more normal once again.  Restrictrictions are being lifted slowly and people are able to gather in small groups.  We are following the Governor Brown's and TU National guidelines to make sure we are doing our part to keep everybody safe.  Lucky Labrador Public House on Capitol Hwy is not open just yet so we won't be having a June Chapter Meeting.  The board will be meeting on June 23 to plan the July Chapter picnic.  The July picnic will on July 8.  I will be posting more details on the website and facebook.

Now on a more serious note: WE NEED MORE BOARD MEMBERS!  We have been recruiting for a year now with little to no response.  We have 636 member that receive this email and 40% actually open it.  We can have up to 15 board members which helps spreads the workload out so no one person feels overloaded.  Currently, we have 9 board members that handle everything and have been handling it for years.  It would be great if new board members could learn from the previous ones.  Michael Gentry asked me to put in the following article to the newsletter.  Please if you are interested, contact Michael Gentry or myself or come to a board meeting.

Thank you,
Lori Day
President

 Will the TVTU Chapter Continue?

Hopefully this headline got your attention.  It is not tongue in cheek.  Our chapter is in need of several additional Directors, a Vice President and particularly a Secretary (who is also a Director) to replace the one who will be ending his services soon.  None of these jobs are rigorous difficult or time-consuming, but all are essential to fill if the Chapter is to stay active in the TU family.  At some point, the current Board will have no option but to notify TU National of its difficulties in filling essential roles, and may result in voluntary or involuntary dechartering of the Chapter.  None of us want that to happen, but we need your participation to continue to make the Chapter functional and vital.  To get information on those roles or to volunteer for consideration for those roles, contact President Lori Day at (503) 437-4528 or Treasurer Mike Gentry at (503) 636-0061 or michaelgentry04@comcast.net
